Title:
ALUMINA BASED INORGANIC FIBER REINFORCED CERAMIC COMPOSITE MATERIAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0687671
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a composite material exhibiting excellent strength and fracture toughness at a room temp. to a high temp. by using an alumina based inorganic fiber as a reinforcing material and a carbide based nanocomposite material or a nitride based nanocomposite material as a matrix and compositing both.

CONSTITUTION: The alumina based inorganic fiber reinforced ceramic composite material is a ceramic composite material obtained by using the alumina based inorganic fiber as the reinforcing material and the carbide based or nitride based nanocomposite material nanocomposited by carbide particles and/or nitride particles as the matrix. Both nanocomposite materials are ceramics constituted by the structure made by transgranular nanocompositing, intergranular nanocompositing or both trans- and inter-granular nanocompositing at least one kind of the carbide powders and nitride powders of dispersion particles with the carbide ceramic or nitride ceramic of a base phase. The ratio of the dispersion particles in the nanocomposite material is usually 1-50 volume % and the ratio of the alumina based inorganic fiber in the composite material is usually 1-70 volume %.
