Title:
ALUMINA MICRO PARTICLES AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING ALUMINA SOL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2008137884
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide an alumina sol constituted by a dispersoid of highly crystalline alumina micro particles, which is useful for a carrier for a metal catalyst, and a simple and efficient method of synthesizing the same.

An alumina sol constituted by the highly crystalline alumina micro particles having a primary particle size of not greater than 20 nm, having a scarce amount of residual hydroxyl ions, and being free the aggregation of particles is manufactured by hydrothermally reacting an aqueous solution of an aluminum salt in a supercritical state water having a temperature of not lower than 410C. The alumina sol constituted by the alumina micro particles as a dispersoid and a use as a reaction membrane thereof are also provided. According to the manufacturing method, the alumina sol having excellent transparency and stability dispersed homogeneously with gamma type alumina micro particles, which are highly crystalline, have a single crystalline particle size of not greater than 20 nm as a dispersoid, and are usable for a catalyst and a catalyst carrier material can be produced.
