Abstract:

To provide an aluminum alloy for die casting having excellent castability and corrosion resistance.

The fact that the contents of Mn, Fe and Cu in the contents of aluminum alloy components for die casting remarkably influence on the corrosion resistance of the aluminum alloy has been made clear. Then, the molten metal of an aluminum alloy for die casting having a composition comprising, by weight, 9.0 to 12.0% Si, 0.20 to 0.80% Mg and 0.7 to 1.1% Mn+Fe, and in which the ratio of Mn/Fe is ≥1.5, and the content of Cu as impurities is regulated to ≤0.5%, and the balance aluminum with inevitable impurities is charged inside a die for die casting in a state where the pressure is reduced to the prescribed one of the atmospheric pressure or below.
