PURPOSE: To manufacture the Al alloy foil in which the surface is uniformly and suitably melted at the time of etching by preparing Al alloy foil contg. a specified amt. of Fe as Al-Fe series intermetallic compounds and contg. Fe excluding that in the intermetallic compounds as inevitable impurities.
CONSTITUTION: In advance, Al-Fe series intermetallic compounds and Al molten metal are prepared. The intermetallic compounds are added to the molten metal, which is solidified before the intermetallic compounds are melted to prepare the Al alloy foil contg., by weight, 0.02 to 0.15% Fe as the intermetallic compounds and contg. Fe except the above as inevitable impurities and the balance Al. At this time, the size of the Al-Fe series intermetallic compounds is preferably regulated to about ≤10μ and the ones of ≤1μ are preferably occupied by about ≥70% for the whole. In this way, the Al alloy foil for the cathode of a chemical condenser having improved meltability can be obtd.
