Abstract:
A worked aluminum alloy product, with a high mechanical strength, high tenacity to rupture, high fatigue resistance and a low development of cracks under fatigue, has the following composition (by wt%): (a) 4.4 to 5.5 Cu, 0.3 to 1.0 Mg (such that 1.1[Mg] + 5.38 = [Cu] = 5.5), less than 0.20 Fe, less than 0.20 Si, less than 0.40 Zn and 0.15 to 0.8 Mn; (b) the Mn being in the form of an element forming some dispersoids in combination with one or more of dispersoid forming elements chosen from less than 0.5 Zr, less than 0.7 Sc, less than 0.4 Cr, less than 0.3 Hf, less than 0.1 Ag, less than 0.4 Ti, less than 0.4 V: (c) the remainder being aluminum and other impurities or occasional elements. An independent claim is also included for the fabrication of this worked aluminum alloy.
