To provide an ammonia treating device capable of efficiently decomposing ammonia and a nitrogen oxide contained in an exhaust gas emitted from the treatment facilities of a thermal power station, and facilities such as human waste treatment, sewage treatment, food manufacturing and coking furnace production.
This ammonia treating device comprises double stage catalytic layers made up of a front stage and a rear stage for treating an exhaust gas 1 containing ammonia, oxygen and vapor. The catalyst of the front stage catalytic layer 3 contains Ti and Ag, and besides, contains one type or more of element selected from Fe, Mn, Zn, Mo, V and W, while the catalyst of the rear stage catalytic layer 6 contains one type or more of element selected from among Ti, Mo and W. In addition, concentration sensors 4, 5 are provided which detect the concentrations of the ammonia and the nitrogen oxide contained in a gas at the outlet of the front stage catalytic layer 3. Further, the temperature of the front stage catalytic layer is controlled so that a value obtained by subtracting the concentration of the ammonia from the concentration of the nitrogen oxide reaches the specified range of concentration based on an output from the concentration sensors 4, 5.
