The analysis apparatus includes an optical sensor composed of at least a pair of light sources 4, which are arranged so as to irradiate a container installation position with light, and a pair of light detectors 5 opposed to each other so as to hold the container installation position and, corresponding to the quantity of the transmitted light detected by the optical sensor, the presence of the installation of the container 1 or the presence of the lid of the container 1 is detected. By this constitution, the closure of the lid without the container or the feed of the container without the lid can be prevented.
