To provide a method for detecting bacteria and white blood cell in a same urine specimen in which survival bacteria and white blood cells can be detected and counted simultaneously without requiring incubation of bacteria and forced sedimentation while satisfying practical requirements.
In order to count survival bacteria and white blood cells(WBC) simultaneously, the survival bacteria and white blood cells(WBC) in a urine specimen are labeled and stored under same conditions using a fluorescent survival marker of bacterial for different fluorescent components. Subsequently, all fluorescent components are counted automatically through photoelectric detection of fluorescent marker. On the other hand, the fluorescent components are sorted simultaneously into fluorescent survival bacterial and fluorescent white blood cells based on the size thereof in order to know the total number of white blood cells.
