Abstract:
 Provided is an angioscope system whereby the character, length, degree of stenosis, and other properties of a lesion inside a blood vessel can be observed or measured through use of a clear image. The present invention is provided with: an angioscopic catheter (1) having a built-in image transmission fiber (11) provided with an illumination fiber (9) for emitting light to an observation site in a blood vessel from the distal-end part thereof and an objective lens for obtaining an intravascular image of the observation site at the distal-end part; a repeater (2) provided with an imaging element part, the proximal-end part of the image transmission fiber being connected to the repeater (2), and the repeater (2) being provided so as to be able to move in the direction of withdrawal of the angioscopic catheter (1); and an imaging/light source controller (4) connected to the repeater (2) via a cable (3); and a compound glass fiber is used as the image transmission fiber (11).
