To provide an antenna element which is used for a mobile communication apparatus or the like, and in which radiation efficiency can be improved irrespective of shape of a circuit board conductor and wide bandwidth can be realized, and to provide a communication apparatus using the antenna element.
In this antenna element, a λ/2 radiation electrode which stretches from the central part of a surface of base substance composed of dielectrics in the symmetrical directions is installed on the surface. A ground conducting line is connected with a part in the vicinity of the center of the electrode, a power feed conductor line is connected with a part being isolated a specified distance from the central part, and at least one end portion out of both end portions of the radiation electrode is made an opened end. Impedance matching between the radiation electrode and a high-frequency signal source can be obtained, by adjusting drawing the power feeding conductor line and the ground conductor line.
