To provide a new antistatic agent without problems of metal contamination and to provide a thermoplastic resin composition comprising the antistatic agent.
The antistatic agent is composed of an esterification reaction product prepared by carrying out an esterification reaction of a polyvalent carboxylic acid component with a polyhydric alcohol component in the presence or absence of a monocarboxylic acid component and/or a mono-alcohol component under conditions that the ratio of the total alcohol component to the total carboxylic acid component is ≤2.5 molar ratio or an alkyl terminal partially modified material of the reaction product. The thermoplastic resin composition is obtained by compounding a thermoplastic resin polymer with the antistatic agent and the ratio of the antistatic agent is 0.001-20 pts.mass based on 100 pts.mass of the thermoplastic resin polymer.
