In a printer provided with a contact pressure adjusting means consisting of an eccentric bearings 2 supporting the shaft ends of a wiping roller 1 and a contact pressure adjusting motor 12 for rotating the eccentric bearings to a frame and changing the distance between centers of the wiping roller and a gravure plate cylinder 4, a torque sensor for detecting a torque of a gear shaft in a driving system of the wiping roller 1 is provided and based on the detected value of the torque sensor, feedback control of the contact pressure adjusting motor is performed by means of a controller so as to make the detected value of the torque sensor to the torque at an appropriate contact pressure.
