PURPOSE: To facilitate preparation of an eel having sliminess by keeping the eel in a state of asphyxis due to electric shock.

CONSTITUTION: This apparatus for holding an eel is constituted as follows. A pair of right and left members 1a and 1b in which the top of the apparatus is formed of arc-like curved parts 2, 2 and this side formed of handle parts 3, 3 is mutually crossed and supported on shafts and, simultaneously, a holding part (h) for holding an eel body is formed by opposed curved parts 2, 2 on the top side, and a grip part (g) is formed by handle parts 3 opposed on this side and a spring member 6 is fitted into pivoting part position so that the holding part (h) is openable, and further, sting needles 7 and 7' are oppositely flocked in the inside of each curved part 2 and, at the same time, wire cords 8 and 8' are included in an either one member 1b of a pair of these right and left members 1a and 1b and these wire cords 8 and 8' are electrically conducted to these sting needles 7 and 7'.
