To provide an apparatus capable of easily detecting stowaways hiding in a container.
In side gases are continuously sucked through a vent hole at a side surface of the container through the use of a sampling probe for container analysis and fed to a device for detecting the gasses in the container. In the case that abnormalities are not detected by the device for detecting the gases in the container, the container is allowed to pass and inspected by an X-ray inspecting device. in the case that the abnormalities are detected by the device for detecting the gasses is the container, detailed inspections are performed on the inside of the container. Therefore, it is possible to easily detect the stowaways prior to X-ray inspection as to wether the stowaways are hiding in the container or not and prevent the stowaways form entering countries.
