Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a method and a device for managing cryptographic key with which the cryptographic key is applied as a vector key, simple key distribution is enabled and comparatively high-speed operation is enabled. CONSTITUTION: The cryptographic key includes a key value and control information for specifying a key to be used by the member of communication domain. A pair of vector keys are allocated to each domain member at least. The respective paired keys share the same key value. One of paired key is applied as a public key and specified for enciphering a message sent from the related domain member or confirming the seal of message. The other key is applied as a private key and specified for deciphering the message sent to the related domain member or generating the seal of message. A vector key processor 11 and an encipher processor 13 belonging to each domain member can be applied onto a single semiconductor 15 accessable by an application program.
