PURPOSE: To detect angle of inclination of a propulsion head accurately moving two optical sensors on two planes separately to output photodetecting position signals outputted from the two optical sensors as an inclination detection signal of an excavation head.
CONSTITUTION: Photodetecting position signals on two planes received by CCD linear sensors 11A and 11B which are controlled by timing circuits 31A and 31B are applied to signal processing sections 32A and 32B to fetch electrical signals for light energy only and the signals are subjected to A/D conversions 33A and 33B to be supplied to a control circuit 35. A circuit 35 judges an instruction from an operation control panel 5 to determine angles θx and θy with respect to laser lights in the directions of the X and Y axes from a distance between two planes and differences Δx and Δy in the directions of the X and Y axes at a photodetecting position on the two planes from the sensors 11A and 11B to be compared with an initial value. When a difference is generaed, it determines that there is a need for correcting an angle of inclination of an excavation head. The results of judgement are displayed on a monitoring screen of the operation control panel 5.
