Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method that generate soft output where calculation time is reduced.
SOLUTION: A discrete signal passing through a specific channel is inputted (a); the point when the input signal is inverted is set to be a first reference point for detecting a specific inversion section (b); and then each time when the value of the input signal exists is set to be a second reference time in the inverse section for obtaining an entire error path that contains the value of the input signal, and is the set of a target value being a signal value that can exist in each time (c). Then, an accumulation error for each error path is obtained for obtaining the maximum value in them (d), log likelihood ratio is calculated based on the maximum value (e), and the value of the input signal is converted to the log likelihood ratio for obtaining the soft output (f). Only the error path at a portion where zero-point cross exists in the output of a specific channel is considered to generate the soft output.
