To provide an apparatus for removing a wire drawing lubricant existing on a traveling metal wire body which can uniformly and sufficiently remove a film of the wire drawing lubricant existing on the surface of the traveling metal wire body by a dry method.
The apparatus 100 for removing the wire drawing lubricant existing on the traveling metal wire body comprises a buff type lubricant removing device 110 in which a pair of polishing buffs are brought into pressure-contact with each other, and a plurality of buffing devices 10, 20 are arranged in a row along the traveling path of the metal wire body so as to make the traveling metal wire body pass the abutting surface between the buffs in a state that the traveling metal wire body is sandwiched between a pair of the buffs, and a polishing chip type lubricant removing device 120 which has rotary drums 30, 30' each having a plurality of chip containing chambers which contain the polishing chips, and partitioned so as to pass the metal wire body, and formed along the traveling path of the metal wire body, and makes the traveling metal wire body guided from the buff type lubricant removing device pass through the chip containing chambers.
