To provide an apparatus for testing tire which is simple and is capable of measuring the characteristics of a tire, with higher accuracy.

The tire testing apparatus comprises a suspension which can be mounted on a vehicle and supports the axis of the tire; a rotating means which has a road surface forming part for contacting with the tire and drives so as to rotate the road surface forming part; a road surface supporting means which supports the rotating means and drives the rotating means so as to vary a state of the road surface contacting with the tire; a detecting means for detecting a tire property value representing the characteristics of the tire; and a control means for controlling an operation of the whole tire testing apparatus. The control means comprises a tire attitude control means which controls at least an operation of the road surface supporting means such that the tire is in a prescribed attitude, with respect to the vehicle; and a measurement control means which stores the tire characteristics values detected by the detecting means so as to associate it with tire attitude information representing the attitude of the tire controlled by the tire attitude control means at the detection time.
