Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the subject composition which contains specific emulsion particles and an inorganic pigment at a specified ratio, thus being useful in writing tools because of its excellent opacifying properties, pigment dispersion stability, writing properties and drying properties.

CONSTITUTION: The subject composition contains (A) 100 pts.wt. of dense emulsion particles having particle sizes ranging from 0.2 to 1.5μm, and higher than 50°C glass transition temperature and (B) 20 to 150 pts.wt. of an inorganic pigment such as titanium dioxide where the total of components (A) and (B) amounts for 30 to 70wt.%. The component A is preferably polystyrene particles.
