To obtain a DNA which codes for D-arabinitol dehydrogenase having a specific amino acid sequence, and allows mass production of thermoresistant D-arabinitol dehydrogenase useful, for example, as a diagnostic agent, for example, for fungal infection.
This DNA codes for D-arabinitol dehydrogenase having an amino acid sequence shown by formula I, or a protein having an amino acid sequence which one or more amino acid(s) is/are deleted from, substituted in, or inserted into the amino acid sequence shown by formula I, and having a D-arabinitol dehydrogenase activity, and has a base sequence shown by formula I. It is preferable to prepare the DNA having the DNA sequence coding for the enzyme which can be obtained from a 2.3 kbp PstI fragment of chromosomal DNA from Bacillus sp. IKD-5A868 (FERM P-15684) having an ability to produce the enzyme using, as a probe, a 21-base DNA fragment having a base sequence shown by formula II, and having a sequence shown by formula III.
