PURPOSE: To obtain a film (oriented) having a high glass transition point and being excellent in flame retardancy, chemical resistance, toughness and like.
CONSTITUTION: This process produces (1) a film (oriented) which is obtained by melting and forming an aromatic sulfide sulfone polymer (PPSSS) only, which has a repeating unit represented by a general formula (--SO2--S--S-) (provided that--represents a p-phenylene group), or a resin composition prepared by mixing the PPSSS with a miscible resin e.g. a polyphenylene sufide, polyphenylene sulfide sulfone, etc., or by orienting the same after melting and forming, and (2) a PPSSS oriented film which is obtained by melting and forming the PPSSS only or the resin composition including the PPSSS at 200 to 320°C and, thereafter, by orienting the same 1.2 to 8 times at 160 to 260°C and then thermally fixing it at 0.8 to 1.5 times at 160 to 200°C.
