PURPOSE: To do rent/return management and stock management of an article accurately, by assembling an IC circuit for storing commodity information into a rental article and containing the article in a shelf.

CONSTITUTION: A rack 21 is provided with many shelves 22 for containing articles, and a body controller 23 is arranged while adjoining thereto. An IC circuit 27 is assembled into a window 26 of a cassette 24 which is contained as the article into the shelf 22, and commodity information such as commodity code, title concerning to said cassette 24 is stored in the IC circuit 27. The containing condition of each cassette 24 in each shelf 22 is monitored continuous ly by means of a microswitch, and rental/stock information for all cassette 24 is stored at all times in a rental management memory.
