Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an asphalt compsn. which has equally improved low-temp. properties and high-temp. properties and of which those properties can be retained more advantageously for a longer time than a conventional polymer- modified asphalt.
SOLUTION: This compsn. comprises an asphalt component and a block copolymer compsn. which comprises at least one conjugated diene block and at least one monovinylarom. hydrocarbon block, wherein the block copolymer compsn. has a vinyl content of at least 25 wt.% based on the total diene content and a diblock content of 25 wt.% or less, and any diblock copolymer present has an apparent mol.wt. in the range of 100,000-170,000.
