Abstract:

To provide an asphalt mixture which uses sulfur subjected to a flame-proofing treatment to produce the non-inflammable safe sulfur and gives paved articles having excellent economy and excellent qualities such as excellent rut resistance.

Flame-proofed retardant sulfur prepared by modifying sulfur with a polymerizable compound or polymer, or preferably flame-proofed sulfur-containing granules prepared by adding mineral fine particles to the flame-proofed retardant sulfur and granulating the mixture to subject the sulfur to the secondary flame-proofing treatment and reduce smell, are used as a material for modifying asphalt mixtures.
