PURPOSE: To manufacture a color picture tube in which resolution and purity characteristics are not deteriorated, by setting a purity magnet separated from the crossover part of the electron beams, while preventing the erroneous operation of the purity magnet when the static convergence is readjusted.

CONSTITUTION: As for a magnet ring, a purity magnet 4, 4-electrode magnet 2, and a 6-electrode magnet 3 are arranged in this order from the picture surface side of a color picture tube, and the purity magnet 4 has a large outer diameter, for example larger by 3-5mm than those of other magnets. The static convergence and the purity characteristics are adjusted by each magnet, and fixed by a lock ring 5, and then the purity magnet 4 is fixed through adhesion, for example by paint 7 which also serves for marking. As the purity magnet is thus arranged apart from the crossover part of the electron beams, the influence of the leaking magnetic field of the purity magnet is reduced, and a color picture tube of excellent quality can be manufactured in which deterioration of the resolution on the picture surface due to the deformation of the shape of the beam is not generated.
