To provide an authentication system for a print network system which employs a simple authentication method providing high accuracy for the individual authentication information of each registered user, while preventing abuse by third parties; a remote management server; and a remote output device.

The authentication system for the print network system comprises a plurality of remote output devices and a remote management server capable of storing and transferring file information. The authentication system includes an image information reader for obtaining image information from the user's own identification documents, and an image authentication request means which causes each remote output device to store image information from the image information reader as personal authentication image information upon a registration request and to output image information upon an authentication request. The remote management server has an image authentication means which authenticates the user upon an authentication request by collating the image information from the remote output device with the personal authentication image information.
