PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic accompaniment device with which a rich sound is generated when sounds having a same pitch are to be simultaneously generated and to provide a program to realize an automatic accompaniment method.
SOLUTION: There exists a case in which a plurality of systems of automatic accompaniment based on accompaniment pattern data and accompaniment style data is to be simultaneously executed. In this case, a user freely converts the pitch of each automatic accompaniment sound and therefore, a plurality of systems of automatic accompaniment having a same key is simultaneously executed and the probability that sounds having a same pitch are generated in an overlapped manner is very high. Therefore, in the subject automatic accompaniment device, a condition, in which sounds having a same pitch are to be generated in an overlapped manner, is constantly detected (a step S16), when the condition, in which sounds having a same pitch are to be generated in an overlapped manner, is detected, the sound is converted to other pitch (a step S17) and the sound is generated in a converted pitch. Moreover, detection is made to determine whether the sound, that is converted, has been generated in the past or not and when the sound has been generated, the sound is converted to other pitch so that same sounds are not generated in an overlapped manner.
