PURPOSE: To enable automatic recovery upon breaking of pin during printing operation by mounting a pressure sensor in a print mechanism and detecting information of an object accurately through the pressure sensor thereby detecting breaking of print head pin in a dot impact printer automatically.
CONSTITUTION: A pressure sensor is mounted in a print mechanism. When a print head stops at the position of the pressure sensor or when an operator commands to move the print head manually or automatically to the position of the pressure sensor, impact is applied onto the pin of the print head. At this time, breaking of pin can be detected through sensing function of the pressure sensor. Detected breaking point is report to formware and automatic recovery operation is carried out according to recovery print processing sequence.
