PURPOSE: To obtain an automatic combustion control device which gives control responsiveness of a sufficiently high level by transmitting a combustion light generated in the cylinder of an engine to an end of combustion detecting means.
CONSTITUTION: When a mixture is ignited, an engine control device 100 receives an electric signal corresponding to the intensity of a combustion light from a combustion light sensor A having a light receiving face 2a to read a combustion end time. At the same time, it receives the rotation angle of a rotary shaft from a rotation angle sensor 102 and, when the rotation angle does not agree with a previously stored rotary shaft rotation angle, the ignition timing of a spark plug B and the fuel injection timing and injection quantity of a combustion injector G are adjusted and regulated to effect the mutual relation between the rotary shaft rotation angle and the combustion end timing or air fuel ratio at the time of obtaining the maximum combustion efficiency. Thereby, the state of combustion can be directly grasped and, due to the accurate information on combustion, control responsiveness of a sufficiently high level can be obtained.
