PURPOSE: To enable long-term preservation of cut vegetable economically and advantageously, by making a gas-permeable plastic film into a bag, packing the bag with the cut vegetable, vibrating the vegetable-containing bag to eliminate bulkiness of the vegetable in the bag, then degassing the bag and heatsealing.
CONSTITUTION: In a packaging device consisting of a bag making device 2 for a gas-permeable plastic film 1, a feeder 4 to pack a cut vegetable 17 into a bag and welding devices 7 and 8, the packaging device is equipped with a vibrator 5 to eliminate bulkiness of the cut vegetable 17 in the bag of the gas permeable plastic film and a degassing device 6 to remove air in the bag. A vibrator comprising a vibrating plate having rapidly reciprocating motion from rotation of a motor through a cam 11 or crank mechanism can be used as the vibrator 5. A compressing and degassing device comprising two plates 14 made of bonded plastic foam 15 and removing air in the bag by compressing the cut vegetable-containing bag from both the sides is usable as the degassing device 6.
