PURPOSE: To provide the sampler which can sense the liquid surface of a conduc tive liquid by neither increasing the number of electrode rods nor employing a conductive material for a sampling nozzle.

CONSTITUTION: This sampler comprises a liquid container 24 which stores a conductive liquid sample 41, a nonconductive sampling nozzle 22 inserted into the liquid sample 41, a conductive buffer liquid 35 introduced into this sampling nozzle 22, an electrode rod 23 which contacts the liquid sample 41 so as to electrify it, a coupling tube 30 which contacts the buffer liquid 35, and a measurement part 40 which measures electric conductivity between the electrode rod 23 and the coupling tube 330, thereby bringing the buffer liquid 35 and the liquid sample 41 into a contact when the sampling nozzle 22 contacts the liquid sample 41.
