PURPOSE: To enable full-automatic mode changeover by connecting a pretreatment column, a concn. column and a separating and analyzing column by a plurality of pipings through different passages and providing a plurality of valves to change over the passages so as to set a mode selected from a plurality of analytical modes.
CONSTITUTION: A pretreatment column C1, a concn. column C2, a separating and analyzing column C3, three-way valves V1, V6, pumps P1-P3, manual injectors M11, M12, an automatic sampler AS and an ultraviolet and visible light type detector DET are provided to constitute the automatic separator to be automatically controlled by a controller CTR and a control signal is applied to the controller CTR from a computer CPU. This separator is used to select and execute one of a HC method, a BF method, a method adding concn. to them, the confirmation of the separation states of the columns C1-C3 and the separation and analysis with a plurality of the HC method and a combination method of the HC method and the BF method. By this constitution, the optimum mode among a large number of modes can be selected corresponding to a sample.
