Abstract:
PURPOSE:To properly perform the switch between the automatic and manual operations with reflection of the driver's intention and in accordance with the traveling situation of a vehicle by providing a steering mode changeover switch means which can perform optionally the switch between an automatic steering operation of the vehicle and a manual steering operation carried out by a normal handle operation. CONSTITUTION:An automatic/manual steering operation changeover instruction is issued to a control part 5 with changeover of a steering mode changeover switch 11. Then the part 5 selects the execution or the non-execution of an automatic steering operation via a steering control part 9. Then the part 5 decides whether a steering torque T set by the present handle operation and detected by a steering torque sensor is produced or not in the driving direction of a drivable area. Thus it is possible to properly perform switching between the automatic and manual steering operations.
