PURPOSE: To track a target automatically and accurately by providing a frame- shaped marker that limits appointed target on the display, and moving the marker automatically in fllowing movement of the target.
CONSTITUTION: A picture of an automoblile 2 is displayed on the picture and a frame-shaped marker is set to contain the picture. Threshold processing is made for the projection iamge on Y-axis and X-axis of above-mentioned image. A level slightly higher than the brightness level P0 is made a threshold, and binary coding is made making brightness above this level 1 and brightness below it 0. An average of coordinate having 1 and squared average of coordinate are calculated and dispersion is determined. At this time, (-x, -y) is the central coordinate of the marker 5, and Kxσx, Kyσy, the product of standard deviation (σx, σy) and a constant, is the marker of X-direction and Y-direction, that is, the width of projection from the target.
