PURPOSE: To restrain shift shock and friction element slip increase in a case in which a speed shift line is set by shifting itself by a set vehicle speed width a set engine load as a boundary, by conducting control so that shift time line pressure with this set engine load interposed may be changed smoothly.
CONSTITUTION: An automatic transmission line pressure controller connected to an engine whose output torque is gradually changed over, is controlled on the basis of a shift chart having a shift line that is set by shifting itself by a set vehicle speed width with a set engine load as a boundary so that a shift conducting vehicle speed may not coincide with a vehicle speed at which the gradual changeover of engine output torque is conducted. That is, line pressure is controlled according to the above shift chart shift line on the basis of an engine load signal by means of a control means 79. In this instance, a shift detecting means 80 detecting a shift time when engine load changes with the set engine load interposed is provided, and the change of the means 79 engine load signal is restricted by means of a restricting means 81 according to its detection output.
