A device comprises a torque converter 3 transmitting output torque of an engine 1, direct connection mechanism 4 directly connecting an output shaft 3a of the torque converter to an output shaft 1a of the engine, means 6A controlling an automatic transmission 2 including the torque converter and the direct connection mechanism, sensor 8 detecting an opening A of an accelerator 7, throttle valve 9 adjusting an intake amount of the engine, actuator 10 driving a throttle valve opened/closed, and a throttle valve control means 12 controlling a throttle opening T. In the automatic transmission control means, in the case of the accelerator opening changing by a prescribed amount or more corresponding to a transient operation condition, a direct connection condition is released, in the throttle valve control means, in the case of the accelerator opening changing by the prescribed amount or more, a follow-up condition of the throttle opening is delayed.
