To improve running safety by controlling a control unit under nonoperation-starting state so as to obtain operation-starting state in the case that a driver-activity signal, such as a sensor signal for breaking operation exixts in at least one sensor.
An automobile has a torque transmitting system 3 and a transmission 4. Driving shafts 7a, 7b are driven by means of a driving shaft 5 connected to a rear side of the transmission 4 through a differential device 6. Provided also are a shift position discrimination sensor 31, a transmission selection sensor 32, a rotational speed sensor 33, a throttle position sensor 34 and a rotational speed sensor 35. Signals are input from the sensors to a control unit 50. In such a setup, when driver's will for shifting is not discriminated and a neutral position is discriminated, a clutch is released. When a shift position other than neutral is discriminated, the clutch is closed for realizing parking and stopping suspension mechanism.
