Title:
BACK PROJECTION TYPE STEREOSCOPIC VIDEO DISPLAY DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH09218475
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a compact stereoscopic video display device capable of obtaining a high-contrast stereoscopic video without being influenced by external light and displaying the video in a wide range.

Videos for a left eye and a right eye displayed on color liquid crystal panels 2 and 4 are projected by projection lenses 3 and 5, pass through 1/4 wavelength plates 7 and 12, are turned back by reflection mirrors 8 and 9, and transmitted through a Fresnel lens 10, then enlarged and projected to a spherical screen 6. Since the wavelength plates 12 and 7 are arranged so that optical principal axes may be orthogonally crossed with each other, the videos for the right eye and left eye become the videos of the left-handed circularly-polarized light and the right-handed circularly-polarized light and are superimposed and projected on the screen 6. An observer visually confirms it as a stereoscopic video by viewing it through polarizing spectacles 15.
