Abstract:
To provide a backlash adjustment mechanism and a backlash adjustment method which allow for adjustment of backlash between gears while allowing for suppression of misalignment of the opening/closing timing of a valve.SOLUTION: A backlash adjustment mechanism 1 comprises: a camshaft 10; and a gear mechanism M having, a cam gear 20 attached to the camshaft 10, and an idle gear 30 meshed with the cam gear 20. The cam gear 20 has: a gear body 21 including a meshed portion E meshed with the cam idle gear 30, and an insertion hole H4 through which a bolt B2 is inserted in an axial line direction D; and a spacer 22 which includes an insertion hole H2 corresponding to the insertion hole H4, is fixed to the camshaft 10 while superimposed on the gear body 21 in an axial line direction D, and is fastened to the gear body 21 by the insertion of a bolt B2 into the insertion hole H4 and the insertion hole H2. The insertion hole H4 is formed into a long hole extending along a peripheral direction of a rotary shaft L.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
