To easily specify a failure location by answering an extension application for extending a count time set by a counting means to a resource managing means if an instruction can not be executed.
If an abnormal end is received from a remote adapter before a time-out (S1007), the failure of a communication line is acknowledged (S1008). If a resource management part receives the extension application for a timer from the remote adapter before the time-out, the resource management part performs a process for extending the set time of the timer (S1010). Consequently, the set time (time-out value) of the timer is extended and the timer continues to clock the time. Further, if the timer enters a time-out state while none of a normal end, the abnormal end, and the timer extension application is received from the remote adapter (S1011), the resource management part acknowledges device failure of the remote adapter (S1012).
