CONSTITUTION: When working, a turck is moved, the truck is stopped when yokes 61, 62 reach suitable locations where the yokes hold a speeper, and a cylinder 65 is worked to integrally let fall yoke assemblied bodies U, a drive shaft 72 serving as a yoke opening and closing mechanism, an oil pressure motor 77 along a guide bar 64 while projecting beaters 69 into ballast up to a fixed depth as providing the beaters 69 with vibration by driving tamper motors 70. When turning the drive shaft 72 by means of the oil pressure motor 77, feed nuts 71 engaging with 72 move to the both end sides of the shaft 72, thus the yokes 61, 62 rotate centering around pins 66, then the beaters 69, 69 mutually approach, provided that ballast is tamped. When said nuts 71 move to set locations, said oil pressure motor 77 is inversely turned, thus expanding the beaters 69
