Abstract:

To provide a pot needing no replacement of Sphagnum cymbifolium Warnst during the raising of an adherent orchid.

Bamboo is cut in a piece of an adequate length having a knot at one end, the bamboo piece is carbonized completely or incompletely, and it is used as a raising pot for an orchid such as an adherent orchid or a foliage plant of various kinds, as it is, or after it is immersed into a chitosan solution, an acetic acid solution of wood vinegar, or the like, and dried. It is also possible that a bamboo piece cut in a cylindrical state is carbonized, split bamboo-made charcoal is separately prepared, and this is assembled into the carbonized cylindrical bamboo as a bottom board. As a filling material, crushed pieces of wood charcoal or bamboo charcoal, or crushed pieces of a mineral such as coral or tourmaline can be used.
