Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize the arc-start and further to prevent the variation of a groove width when fixing a bar steel in T butt welding between the end face of the bar steel of reinforcing bar, etc., and a steel plate, etc., with a gas shielded arc welding.
SOLUTION: A bar steel and a steel plate are fixed by leaving a prescribed groove space, the groove space is enclosed with a backing material 1 of ceramics, etc., formed with an opening 2 on the upper part, this is the backing material 1 in order to weld the bar steel and the steel plate by inserting a welding wire inside the groove from the opening 2, the bottom part of the backing material 1 is fitted with an arc starting metal tool 3 made in a U-shape to definitely hold the groove width by being sandwiched between the bar steel and the steel plate of an object to be welded.
