To provide a barrier rib for display panel, of which phosphor layer has an even thickness and which can facilitate the enlargement of a screen having fine discharge display cells, by forming a cross section of a base part of the barrier rib integrated with a back surface plate, which is obtained by plastically deforming a barrier rib forming composition, into a curved surface having a curvature radius in a specified dimension range.
In the case where a curvature radius of a curved surface 11 of a cross section of a barrier rib base part 10, which is integrally formed with a back surface plate 2, is less than 10 μm, even at a part of the curved surface with a view from the center direction of a discharge display cell 5, an effect for lowering the generation of deformation and breakdown of a barrier rib is low, and in the case where the curvature radius exceeds 100 μm, rigidity of the barrier rib is improved, but a light emitting space is narrowed, and luminance is lowered. Curvature radius of the curved surface 11 of a cross section of the barrier rib base part 10 is desirably formed at 10-100 μm independently of size of the discharge display cell 5 so as to manufacture the barrier rib molding die. Namely, a coating layer of the barrier rib forming composition is plastically deformed, and a PDP barrier rib 1 is manufactured so that the barrier rib base part 10 is formed with the curved surface 11 having a constant curvature.
