PURPOSE: To provide damping effectively over a wide range of vibration by a method wherein an elasto-plastic deformation damper section and a laminated rubber damper section are joined perpendicularly together and are connected with each other so that both the sections can be rocked freely.
CONSTITUTION: An elasto-plastic deformation damper section 1 formed at least of one rod-like elasto-plastic deformation member 10 and a laminated rubber damper section 2 mainly composed of a laminated rubber body are joined perpendicularly together, and thereby a base isolation apparatus H is constructed. A regulating hole 58 is bored either to an upper bed plate 50 or an under bed plate 51 of the laminated rubber damper section 2, and a stopper member 59 is arranged in the regulating hole 58 with a specified distance maintained, and thereby the laminated rubber damper section 2 and the elasto-plastic deformation member 10 are connected with each other so that both the members can be rocked freely. In a structure as mentioned above, the laminated rubber damper section 2 undergoes relatively small horizontal vibration while the elasto-plastic deformation damper section 1 undergoes large horizontal vibration. Therefore the apparatus can give damping effect over a wide range of vibrations.
