Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject base containing a homopolymer of a monomer having phosphorylcholine group, free from adverse effect on the skin, effective for lowering the barrierness of the horny layer and improving the transcutaneous absorbability of an effective component.
SOLUTION: This base contains one or more kinds of homopolymers expressed by formula I [R1 and R2 are each H or methyl; X1 and X2 are each a carboxylic acid ester group or carbonamide group; Y1 is a group of formula II ((p) is 1-10); Y2 is a 1-22C alkyl; (m) and (1-m) are each molar fraction of the respective polymer unit; (m) is 0.01-1] and having a number-average molecular weight of 2,000-5,000,000, preferably 2-methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine homopolymer and a copolymer of 2-methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine and butyl methacrylate. The polymer can be produced e.g. by polymerizing a monomer giving a phosphorylcholine group-containing polymer unit expressed by formula III by radical polymerization, etc.
