Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery charge device which shortens a charge time while suppressing deterioration of a battery by effectively utilizing power supplied from an external power source and is capable of improving charging efficiency of the battery.SOLUTION: A battery charge device comprises: a battery 11 which is mounted in a vehicle 1 and can be charged to a predetermined upper limit voltage; charge means 33 which charges the battery 11 by an external power source 32 of the vehicle 1; cooling means 20 which cools the battery 11; voltage detection means 40 which detects a voltage of the battery 11; and control means 40 by which, when the voltage detected by the voltage detection means 40 reaches the upper limit voltage while the battery 11 is charged, charging of the battery 11 by the charge means 33 is stopped or charge power is reduced until the detected voltage is reduced to a predetermined preset voltage. While the charging is stopped or the charge power is reduced during the charging of the battery 11, the control means 40 actuates the cooling means 20 with power from the external power source 32.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
