Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a battery charger which is inexpensive and has an improved operation property so that DC output can be fumed on and off according to the connection/non-connection of a battery without using a power switch.
CONSTITUTION: In a battery charger using an AC/DC converter 1, a state detection means 4 for detecting the connection state of a battery BAT is provided at a secondary side, a primary side main switch element 2 of the AC/DC converter 1 is forcibly retained to be off when AC is inputted and the battery BAT is not connected, and a switch control means 3 for allowing the oscillation operation of the main switch element 2 when the connection of the battery BAT is detected by the state detection means 4 is provided.
