A wound electrode 4 being a power generating element is housed in the battery can 1 provided with a tubular can body 11 having a peripheral wall 16 and a bottom wall 17, and electric power generated by the wound electrode body 4 can be extracted outside from a pair of positive and negative electrode terminals 10, 20. The negative electrode terminal 10 is constructed of the bottom wall 17, and a current collector 5 of the negative electrode side covering an electrode edge 48b is installed at the electrode edge 48 of the negative electrode side of the wound electrode body 4 connected to the negative electrode terminal 10. The current collector 5 on the negative electrode side is constructed of a flat body 51 and a cylindrical skirt 55 protruding toward the current collector 3 on the positive electrode side surrounding the outer circumference of the flat body 51, and a projection 13 formed at the peripheral wall 16 is projection-welded to the skirt 55.
